The Academy Awards: Oscar Predictions

After another year where Hollywood produced some fantastic movies, Nominations for the 89th Academy Awards were announced, and it’s shaping up to be a tight race. The Oscars are the biggest and most important awards show of the season, culminating in a grand display of mystique and magic we’ve come to correlate with Hollywood. After an impressive showing at the Golden Globes winning seven awards ‘La La Land’ earned a whopping 14 nominations and looks to build off its momentum. Also receiving a bevy of awards are Arrival and Moonlight with eight nominations each, followed by ‘Manchester by the Sea,’ ‘Lion’ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ all earning six nominations.

Before the winners are announced on February 26, 2017, I will be giving you my predictions for some of the bigger categories. During the show itself, I will be live tweeting how many I got right on TheMidnightMinds twitter page as well as my personal twitter account.

The 89th Academy Awards show will be one of the most diverse regarding gender and race representation on film. Although that wasn’t a necessarily hard thing to accomplish, it is without a doubt step in the right direction. Do you agree with my picks? Are you excited to watch the Academy Awards show? Let us know in the comment section or tweet at us on our twitter page @ _MidnightMinds!
