As fans gear up for the third installment of the beloved Star Trek film franchise this summer, CBS Studios debuted a teaser trailer and revealed the logo for their upcoming Star Trek series. The upcoming Star Trek series, from CBS Studios, has an impressive team running the show; Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) is onboard as the executive producer/show-runner along with Alex Kurtzman (Co-writer of Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness) and Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan) serving as writers/producers. There has been no new information about exactly what the show will be about, though what we do know is that production begins this fall and veterans such as Tony Todd are in talks to return. The new Star Trek TV series will premiere exclusively for CBS All Access in January of 2017, in their attempt to jumpstart the streaming service.
As the son of a Star Trek lover, it was hard to grow up and see my father watching the original shows and not just become so engrossed in the independent stories and characters. For devotees who were not fans of Abrams re-imagination of the beloved franchise, this show looks to bridge the gap of those looking for those great character driven stories, and remind us why we fell in love with the show in the first place. Nevertheless we have a long ways to go before watching anything so in the meantime you can check out the teaser trailer here and we will keep you updated as more details emerge!
Synopsis: The brand-new Star Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.
